    • The Smartpass should be connected, closer to your TV, unless you are going to split the signal. The way it should be connected is: Antenna to coaxial cable. Coaxial from the antenna connected to the Smartpass Amplifier. Smartpass Amplifier connected to the TV. The amount of loss is dependent upon the strength of the signal, the length of the coaxial cable run and the quality of the cable used. Review Title:
Not exactly omnidirectional

  • Overall Review:
  • Replaced a Mohu Leaf 50 TV Antenna. The Mohu could pick up channels very clearly in a specific direction, and it provided a very clear picture in the direction it was pointed. But I live in an area with stations at 4 major directions, and the Mohu had to be physically rotated to pick up different stations, so I decided to get this Antop omnidirectional antenna. At first I was skeptical. I first did a hand-held comparison between the Mohu and Antop hand-held in the living room to compare how many channels I could clearly receive. I found that this Antop antenna IS directional to a certain extent. I found that I had to hold the antenna at a slightly off-horizontal angle to get optimal reception, but once I got the angle right, it was able to pick up all the local channels in the area without the need for further rotation. Then I mounted the antenna in my attic. I'm getting very clear reception of all local channels plus some more distant ones. With the Mohu, I started with 20 to 25 channels, depending on which direction I pointed the antenna. Now I'm getting everything in the area, for a grand total of 39 very watchable channels. Knocked off one star for the antenna not being truly omnidirectional, but very happy otherwise.

I put another preamp right before the splitter also because I had long cable runs. Supplies reception for four tvs in excellent quality

  • Overall Review:
  • great amplified antenna, easy to mount, but had about 20' of excess coax on this installation that I could not get an answer for, not only that the coax is not marked if it RG-59 or not. Finally got everything cut and new coax fittings installed, wife is picking up 12 to 14 HD stations in a 20x24 metal work shop.

TV Antenna Solution

  • Overall Review:
  • I tried a lower cost antenna and had to send it back (too few stations received and it was a directional nightmare). This antenna works great mounted in my attic with the modular amplifier provided. Being omnidirectional, no adjustment was needed to receive stations 360 degrees. This worked best after replacing old RG6 cables and using new gold plated connectors. I received 7 extra stations just by purchasing new cables and gold plated connectors at Radio Shack. The antenna was well worth the investment and time to hook-up.

All in all I am very satisfied with the Antenna

  • Overall Review:
  • The antenna is truly 360 degree as I pick up signals in 3 different directions. Some transmitters are 45 miles and other 10 miles. I live in Las Cruces NM so I am contending with mountains for the TV stations 45 miles away so I only get 2 out of 4. However the missing channels are picked up locally with TV Translators TV stations. I feel the preamplifier could be stronger but I don't have any technical data to support my thinking. All in all I am very satisfied with the Antenna. It is saving me a lot of money by dropping Comcast Cable TV and I have better picture quality. I have a TiVo Bolt DVR so I can record 4 shows at a time. A happy camper!!!!

) with iterations like 29-1 to 29-9

  • Overall Review:
  • Perhaps I am naive, but I believed this antenna would reach stations in the Bay Area. I mounted it high on a chimney, with an unobstructed view down the Napa and into San Francisco Bay. I received 3 towers (stations?) with iterations like 29-1 to 29-9. No PBS, no networks, lots of god channels, and several Spanish channels like Univision. For this, I paid $100 on Amazon and I now see an antenna claiming 150miles range, for $35. I returned this item to Amazon, no questions asked. Would not recommend this antenna.

Antenna Position and Tuning Matters

  • Overall Review:
  • The antenna is light weight enough to carry up an extension ladder and mount to a pole you can hold the antenna easily with one had and fasten the hardware with the other. After making adjustments and then going inside to check results I came up with a easy way. Use Facetime or Skype with Phone while on the roof and person in front of TV inside. Be sure to use the signal meter feature of your TV. I was able to adjust the position of the antenna to receive the best signal from ABC and PBS in Harrisburg, PA I'm located in York, PA 17403. There are a few channels that I'm not pulling in that I wanted too. I found if you want to receive certain stations better you may loose the ability to view others. Antop should provide more specific technical data like signal detection pattern results and actual gain in DBs of antenna and then amp.
  • Small, Lightweight, Easy to adjust position, Was easy to install. Amplified, Smart Pass Filter
  • I would like more gain from the smart pass filter/amp. Had to point it to receive strong signal. Does not pick up strong signal full 360 degrees, strongest signal is straight out from the front

Review Title:
Performance did not match my homemade antenna.

  • Overall Review:
  • This is the first indoor/outdoor antenna I've ever tried. I checked out many others online but decided on this one in the off chance I had to install it outdoors that it wouldn't look awkward like some other antennae. Also, this one is omni-directional, I didn't want to have to fool around with positioning and re-positioning a one directional antenna. I received it and hooked it up to one TV in the kitchen first and put the antenna on the table. I caught 22 channels immediately after doing a channel scan so I decided to move it to the attic to connect to all the tv's in the house. I have incoming cable for internet and my modem is in the living room. Therefore I had to connect the incoming cable directly to my living room cable which means that the tv in the living room is not getting my antenna signal unfortunately. I hooked the antenna cable to the splitter for the other rooms, plugged in the power, mounted the antenna and voila, all the tv's in the house are receiving FREE tv. I am having signal trouble in one room on a couple of channels but that may be a wiring issue I need to address. I did have to run an extension cord to the antenna for now until I can get an electrician to make up an outlet box in my attic. This antenna requires power for the signal booster but if you have existing wiring near the location you are mounting your antenna, this should be an easy fix for an electrician. I highly recommend this antenna! Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do with the TV in the living room.

Omni directional for real

  • Overall Review:
  • I'm delighted! Live in rural north florida and receive up to 19 (more on that in a moment) beautiful HD channels! Cut the satellite cord -- am saving $109 per month! This antenna picks up stations in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Gainesville and Ocala...but not all the time. Those with 40 to 50 miles are steady, but those at the edge Channels 27.x in Tally come in best in the morning while 4.x in Jax is quite good after the sun goes down. This is the 2nd HD antenna I've installed, the first one soon after the stations converted to digital, so 8 or 9 years ago, and it is a directional, only receiving some gainesville and ocala stations. This omni ability is great, no rotating antenna needed. For locals, WRUF also broadcasts a great weather, news and sports station that many in this area do not know about at 10.1, so check it out if in the area.

I have many tall deciduous and pine trees close the the house and the little antenna is about 18 feet or so above ground level, mounted above the roof line, although a chimney to the south is taller.. I think if I put it up higher than the trees, I might get many more channels. But that is aybe in the future, because for now this is great. BTW it feeds a Channel Master DVR+ which is connected to a router so we get schedules and can pause, fast forward, record, etc. Altogether, this fee-free system will pay for itself in four months. Wanted to cut the cord for years, and finally have a great system. Bye bye big monthly bills!

Perfect

  • Overall Review:
  • So I went out on a limp here and tried an antenna. Cable is just getting too expensive. I remember using an antenna when I was growing up and recall having to play with the positioning of it which was a drag. I also remember that the picture didn’t always come in clear. So we tried it in hopes that things would be different… I am really impressed with the reception and this whole new antenna idea. Set-up was really easy and we don’t have to keep repositioning it to receive channels. We did have to move it around at first, but just to find its hotspot. (Patience is a big thing when you get an antenna) The picture that we receive is better then what we get from the cable company. I am really happy that we gave the antenna a try. We can now stop the cable and have that extra money for other things. Had to share my experience, because my thoughts of an antenna were just out of the question because of my past experiences.

A friend of mine let me have an RCA wall mount antenna which increased my coverage to 5 channels. This ANTOP AT-414B UFO omni-directional antenna helped my pick up 13 channels. I'm very pleased!

I looked up which channels I could expect to get with an antenna mounted 30 feet above the ground at [...], and as I said, I'm getting 13 at a height of about 8-1/2 feet above the ground. Still, I'm not getting all of the ones I should, while I am getting a few that I shouldn't. The antenna is rated for 55/65 miles yet I'm picking up a channel that is 82 miles away. Some that I'm not getting, but should, are likely being blocked by my roof line.

I currently have mine mounted to the facia board of the eave of my house--not even clearing my roof line. To be honest, I was lazy and in a hurry to watch pre-season football games. I plan to raise this antenna higher, but that won't happen in the summer heat and humidity.

I received this product at a reduced price in exchange for my honest review. 4 Stars means "I like it." 5 Stars means "I love it." I have no reason to be dissatisfied, but I'm not in love with it. I don't know that I would have purchased this product at full price--but that's because my budget simply doesn't have room for an antenna at full price. There are many more-expensive antennas on the market, so if you're considering purchasing one of those, this antenna could give you what you want for less money.
